You know how sometimes you wait so long for a book that you think, "It can't possibly be as good as I think/hope/want it to be".That is not the case here!Joely Sue created an amazing world set in modern day Americas. Shara finds out she is an Aima queen and must figure out how to find her place. In this book, the stakes are getting higher because she has caught the attention of the Triune and they aren't happy.Yet amidst all this tension and intrigue, Shara is finding her Blood. Blood is the name of the people who protect and sustain an Aima queen. And they do it with blood. With her Blood's blood and her own, Shara controls very powerful magic.I love that this book is an entirely new world set in our own. The characters are vampires but also very human and realistic. And Joely wraps it all in steamy, hot, dirty sex. This book was by far my favorite in the series. Everything about it was exciting, creative, drenched in ancient mythology of all cultures, and hot steamy scenes. My favorite part about this entire series so far is Shara’s journey to build her nest and obtain Blood with all the help from the different goddesses. There is plenty of action and drama and seeing Shara actually act like the formidable queen she is was amazing.The author has done a great job creating all the characters. I was actually worried that with the increasing number of men, they would start to become dull, bleed or blur into one another, or lack distinctive qualities. That isn’t what is happening. All the men are well described and portrayed well that I can easily tell them apart.I’m excited for the next book to see if she gets any more Blood and what other magical things she can accomplish to blow her men’s minds with her display of raw power.
